OSL’s Summer Blasts are returning, bringing food, fun and games, and outdoor worship to OSL members, neighbors, and friends! Summer Blasts will kick off this Thursday, June 15. Food will be served starting at 5:00 p.m., with a car and motorcycle show and fun and games at 5:30. A simple worship service will follow, at 6:30. Subsequent Summer Blasts will be on Wednesday, July 12, and Wednesday, Aug. 16—stay tuned for more details!
The weekly broadcast of the Festive worship service, ordinarily seen on KSCB (cable channel 30) at 1:00 p.m., will not be shown during the month of June, due to a shortage of volunteers. Look for the broadcast to resume next month.
Stop by the Healing Garden this Sunday, June 18, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., to enjoy lemonade, homemade treats, and the beautiful results of dedicated volunteers’ gardening efforts.
Friendship Club will head to the Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History on Tuesday, June 20. The group will meet at OSL at 10:00 a.m., then car-pool to the zoo at 10:30. After viewing the newly remodeled exhibits and attractions, you’ll then enjoy a sack lunch just inside the zoo before returning to OSL. Cost for zoo admission is $11.50 per person; lunch will be provided by the Senior Ministries Board. Bring a friend!

Saturday evening Festive worship will remain at 5:00.

The next monthly outdoor worship service will be on Sunday, July 2, at 8:45 a.m., weather permitting. If weather doesn’t permit, an attempt will be made on the following Sunday.
OSL has an opening for a part-time Nursery Supervisor. This paid position is ideal for someone who loves children, is committed to the Nursery as a ministry of hospitality of this congregation, and has at least three years of experience working with children through age four. Book Club for Adults will meet on Thursday, June 22, at 7:00 P.M., in the OSL Library to discuss A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.
Sign up for Lutherans Outdoors Day Camp! July 10 through 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., NeSoDak staff will bring the outdoor camp experience indoors for students who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Sign up at oslchurch.com/children for “For You.” The cost is $50 per camper. Friends are welcome!
Summer Recent Loss Group will meet on Tuesday evenings, June 27 through July 25 (except July 4) from 6:30 to 7:30, in the Chapel. Michelle Anderson, RN, FCN, will facilitate the series, which will allow for time to share and support one another on our grief journeys. No registration is required. The OSL Library is sponsoring its “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Program. Kids (through high school) are invited to help “build a better world” domino city in the Library. Kids, for each book you read, you will get a dot on a domino used for the city scene, and your checkout receipt will make you eligible for a $5 weekly prize drawing. The reading program will run for 10 weeks; you will receive a treat and prize with every check-out. At the program’s completion, the two youth who have read the most books and accrued the most domino city dots will receive a grand prize! By participating, you will be invited to participate in the OSL Library Committee’s service project, included in Serve Sioux Falls (organized by LifeLight, Empower Sioux Falls, and Volunteers of America–Dakotas), to put the reading program theme to work and live out OSL’s mission, Connecting Faith with Everyday Life.
The Women’s Fall Retreat is coming up, on Sept. 22 and 23, at Joy Ranch, near Watertown. The weekend will focus on “The Art of Mindfulness,” with Pr. Cindy Hoy as facilitator. Cindy is the director of Pastoral and Spiritual Care at Sanford. Music will be provided by Toni LeVasseur. Look for early registration information by July 1.
