Here’s your look at some of the things happening at Our Savior’s. See the current bulletin announcements at oslchurch.com for all the latest!
The time is here! This Sunday, Nov. 12, is the deadline for you to share your reflection on what God has done in your life by writing a brief item for Magnify!, OSL’S 2017 Advent Devotional. When we tell the stories of what God has done for us, we magnify God in our world. Perhaps you treasure a memory of a moment you knew God was close because of a miracle, a coincidence, a beautiful moment, or a feeling you couldn’t explain. Send your contribution (400 words or fewer) to Bill Reynolds, email@example.com, preferably as a Word document attached to an email message. Authors of all ages are encouraged to contribute!
OSL’s Recent Loss Group will meet on Wednesdays, Nov. 15 through Dec. 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the Chapel. Contact Michelle Anderson, 336-2942, ext. 28, or firstname.lastname@example.org, to preregister. OSL Community Supper is available before the meeting, at 5:00 in The Gathering Place.
Call process update: At a congregational meeting on Oct. 15, OSL members voted unanimously to extend a call to the Rev. Justin Kosec to fill the position of Pastor of Outreach and Communication. Following a time of discernment, Pr. Justin and his wife, Susanne, have accepted the call and will be moving to Sioux Falls in the near future. (Read more about the Kosecs in the November Intercom, online at oslchurch.com/intercom-november-2017.) Watch for details as they become known, and please keep the Kosec family in your prayers during this transition time.
Make your own Advent Wreath this Sunday, Nov. 12, from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m., in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to this Cross+Gen event, where families will work together to make one wreath per household. This special event is in place of Sunday School that day, and children younger than grade six must have a caring adult with them.
During this season of thankfulness, be sure to view the Stick Together Mosaic being built in the Library to reveal one of God’s many blessings. Since this fall reading program began, over 1,500 stickers have been placed on the mosaic, one for each item patrons have checked out since Sept. 10. Can you guess what the image will be?
OSL Dining Out—an evening of dinner and fellowship at a local restaurant—will meet at China Express, 2302 W. 41st St., on Friday, Nov. 17, at 6:00 p.m. RSVP to Donna Wilson, 371-1518, or sign up at the Information Center.
The Advent Fair will be on Nov. 29, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Come make some beautiful crafts and enjoy a wonderful meal. All ages are welcome! Children must have a caring adult with them.
Men’s Bible Breakfast meets on the first and third Friday of every month, at 6:30 a.m., in The Gathering Place, for food, Bible study, and fellowship. Next meeting: Nov. 17.
Socks for Christmas: OSL is helping the SIGH (Stepping into Good Health) Foot Care Clinic again this year by collecting new socks for the under-served and homeless in the community. Contributions of women’s crew socks and diabetic stockings are especially welcome. Items must be new, any design or color. Place them in the large red Christmas stocking in the donation area near the Library throughout December.
Help make lefse! OSL’s Women of the ELCA are looking for volunteers to help mix lefse dough on Friday, Nov. 17, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. (about five people), and on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9:00 a.m. until noon, to roll lefse balls, grill, and package. Bring your lefse grill, turning sticks, pastry board, cloths, and rolling pin. Everyone is welcome; no experience required! Come for fun, good fellowship, making new friends, and sampling lefse! Sign up at the Information Center, or contact Donna Wilson, 359-7718, or Lori Tendler, 323-8009.

It’s almost time again for Midnight Madness, when OSL invites Augustana University students to come over for an evening of study, relaxation, recreation—and pizza!—as they prepare for finals. This semester’s Midnight Madness will be on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, and there are many opportunities for you to help. Stop at the table in The Gathering Place or contact Loretta Nelson, firstname.lastname@example.org 336-2942, ext. 14, to see how you may donate your time, food, or financial gifts for pizzas. Thank you for your support of OSL’s Augie neighbors.
