Here’s your look at some of the things happening at Our Savior’s. See the current bulletin announcements at oslchurch.com for all the latest!
A new way to experience Good Friday worship: Good Friday GIFT of Love (Generations in Faith Together) is a Cross+Gen Good Friday worship service with engaging age-appropriate elements for children and their families. You can look forward to an interactive, visual confession and forgiveness, caring conversation, and a sacred garden tomb experience, all woven into a progres-sive worship service that will move around the church building to help tell the story of Good Friday, the story of the full expression of Jesus’ love for all people. Come and worship at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, beginning in the Sanctuary.
The Church Office will be closed on Monday, April 2. No church events will be held at OSL that day.
The Blood Mobile will return to OSL on Sunday, April 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. At some point on that date OSL will reach its 1,000th donation milestone, and you can help make that happen and help save lives to boot! Sign up at the Information Center or in the Church Office during the week.
The OSL Library’s Spring Book Sale will be on Saturday, April 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Donations of gently used books, music CDs, and DVD movies will be Thursday, April 11. Please do not leave boxes of items outside the Library, but bring them inside during business hours.
The Envelope Fundraiser supports OSL students going to Week of Hope in Minneapolis and the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston this summer. Stop by the south windows, near the Celebrate Center, grab a numbered envelope, put cash or a check (made to OSL) with the corresponding number of dollars as the envelope’s number, and place it in the Offering or turn it into the office by April 22. Thank you for supporting OSL youth!
As March Madness winds down, it’s time to focus on Midnight Madness, when OSL invites Augustana University students to come over for an evening of study, relaxation, recreation—and pizza!—as they prepare for finals. This year’s Midnight Madness will be on Sunday, May 13, from 6:00 to midnight, and there are many opportunities for you to help. Stop by the table in The Gathering Place on Sundays, starting on April 8, to donate your time, food, or financial support for pizzas, or contact Loretta Nelson, email@example.com or 336-2942, ext. 14. Thank you for your support of Our Savior’s Augie neighbors.
Faithful Living + Joyful Giving: Generosity is one of OSL’s core values, but do you experience joy in your giving? Do you ever wish you could? Would you like to experience even greater joy in giving? The good news is that you can, by following six proven steps that will take you deeper in your faith. Join Pr. Randy for a six-week Bible study on Wednesday evenings, 6:00 to 7:00, beginning on April 11, in the Conference Room. All are welcome.
Wellness Wednesdays will begin on April 11 and run through May 2, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., in Caring Ministries. The series will use Church Health “Model Moments” study guides to encourage one another in our individual wellness efforts. Suggested donation is $5; the series is supported by a Thrivent grant. Register with Michelle Anderson, RN, Faith Community Nurse, 336-2942, ext. 28, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Come join OSL women and guests for the Spring Women’s Retreat, April 14, from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m., in The Gathering Place! There will be a light brunch, devotions, music, door prizes, and a wonderful speaker, the charismatic and entertaining Trish Syverson, whose topic will be “A Laugh a Day Keeps…” Register now for a fun and inspirational morning! The Congregational Life Board will host a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on April 15, between worship services. No special invitations will be sent; if you volunteer in any way at OSL, you are invited! Volunteers will receive a pin and free breakfast.
Operation Outreach is OSL’s way of empowering the work of over 25 ministry partners this year through festival offerings (Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas). In 2018, OSL hopes to raise more than $55,000 through these special offerings in order to continue to support the life-giving ministries of OSL’s partners in a meaningful and substantial way. Thanks for giving generously to Operation Outreach!
Connect faith to everyday life by being one of 25 OSL volunteers who will help to serve breakfast at the Banquet on Thursday, April 19. Sign up at the Information Center, or call Jon Voight, 334-8410 or 323-9591.
the Caring Friends program expands OSL’s visitation program to members who are homebound or in nursing homes or care facilities. Currently, there is a Caring Friend opportunity at Southridge Health Care; contact Deb Harlan, 336-2942, ext. 48, or dharlan @oslchurch.com or to learn how you may help. In addition, a sharing and fellowship meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m., in the Conference Room, for current Caring Friends and those interested in learning more about this important ministry.
