Connecting Faith and Life, an adult discussion and study group facilitated by Pr. Randy, is studying the book Loving Jesus by Mark Allan Powell on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., in the Conference Room. This class is an exploration of how simple religious practices can move us toward a closer walk with Jesus. All are welcome.
The OSL Library’s One Church One Read discussion of the book Wonder will take place next Sunday, March 18, at 10:00 a.m., in the Conference Room, followed by a showing of the movie Wonder at 12:30 p.m. in the Holy Word Theatre. RSVP to the Library by noon on Thursday, March 15, to partake in a pizza lunch in the Conference Room for those attending the movie.
Courageous will be the Second Saturday Movie, on March 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the Holy Word Theatre. Two law enforcement officers and their partners consistently give their best on the job. When tragedy hits home, can a new urgency draw the dads closer to God and to their children? Make a day of it with the movie, followed by worship at 5:00 and dinner afterward!
Start the Conversation, a two-part discussion of various topics related to family processes and aging will begin this Sunday, March 11, with “Start the Conversation: Anticipating Future Family Transitions.” Staff from Good Samaritan will bring a panel to Fellowship Hall, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., to lead the discussion. The second part of the discussion will be held in April; watch for details. Questions? Michelle Anderson, email@example.com or 336-2942, ext. 28.
OSL’s Men’s Bible Breakfast meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room. A continental breakfast is provided by members at each gathering. Men of all ages are invited to attend this one-hour Bible study when it meets next, on March 17. For more details, contact Pr. Tim Lemme, firstname.lastname@example.org or 336-2942, ext. 19.
The OSL Library is hosting a Resurrection Egg Hunt in the Library each Sunday and Wednesday through April 1, to keep God’s grace at the heart of the Lenten season. Children and youth who check out items and find one of the Resurrection Eggs hidden among the Library shelves will receive a prize after they explain the way the item inside relates to the Easter story.
Actors, dramaturges, and otherwise dramatic people: Help bring to life Jesus’ last evening with his friends via an original script written for Our Savior’s Maundy Thursday worship services. Contact Pr. Justin Kosec, 336-2942, ext. 44, or email@example.com, if you’d like to contribute.
Starting your spring cleaning? The OSL Library encourages you to donate gently used books, CDs, and DVDs for the Spring Book Sale. Items will be accepted from March 18 through April 11. Please do not leave boxes of items outside the Library, but bring them inside during business hours.
Operation Outreach is OSL’s way of empowering the work of over 25 ministry partners this year through festival offerings (Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas). In 2018, OSL hopes to raise more than $55,000 through these special offerings in order to continue to support the life-giving ministries of OSL’s partners in a meaningful and substantial way. Thanks for giving generously to Operation Outreach!
OSL supports the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items throughout the year, which will be used by local families in need. The food item for March is hearty soup. Donations may be placed in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library. Thank you for your generosity!
In OSL’s Bereavement Ministry Program, volunteers deliver a Bereavement Packet and Dinner to Your Door meal to members who have recently lost a loved one. It’s just one way Our Savior’s members help one another to cope with loss. You can play a part in this important ministry—contact Deb Harlan, 336-2942, ext. 48, or dharlan@oslchurch, to find out how!
Connect faith to everyday life by being one of 25 OSL volunteers who will help to serve breakfast at the Banquet on Thursday, April 19. Sign up at the Information Center, or call Jon Voight, 334-8410 or 323-9591.
Among the many opportunities to serve OSL and the larger community, two currently stand out: Ushers and Information Center hosts. Each of these volunteer positions is an important component of Our Savior’s dedication to hospitality, to members and visitors alike. The time commitment is not great, and schedules are adjustable. Contact Loretta Nelson, firstname.lastname@example.org or 336-2942, ext. 14, for more information.
