Here’s your look at some of the things happening at Our Savior’s. See the current bulletin announcements at oslchurch.com for all the latest!

This weekend is Pentecost, the third of three major festivals in the church year (Christmas and Easter are the other two). You are encouraged to wear bright red to worship, not only as a way of creating a festive worship environment but also as a visible reminder of the fire and breath of God that has created, redeemed, and is sanctifying us each day that we live. It will be a time to remember, and a time to celebrate with Christians around the world!
Marilyn Schempp, Our Savior’s principal organist and Associate Director of Music and Fine Arts, has announced her retirement after 22 years of faithful service to the OSL community. A congregational celebration of Marilyn’s music ministry is being planned for Aug. 5; watch for details. Marilyn’s last day on staff will be Aug. 8, but she and Mark plan to continue as members of OSL. Please keep the Schempps in your prayers as they make their way through this transition in their lives.
Middle School 2nd Sunday Fun Day Mystery Movie will be this Sunday, May 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., in the Youth Room. Come for a fun movie with a hidden message, pop, and popcorn, and bring a friend. This event is free!
OSL’s Men’s Bible Breakfast group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room. A continental breakfast is provided by members at each gathering. Men of all ages are invited to attend this one-hour Bible study when it meets on May 19. For more details, contact Pr. Tim Lemme, tlemme@oslchurch.com or 336-2942, ext. 19.
Faithful Living + Joyful Giving: Generosity is one of OSL’s core values, but do you experience joy in your giving? Do you ever wish you could? Would you like to experience even greater joy in giving? The good news is that you can, by following six proven steps that will take you deeper in your faith. Join Pr. Randy for the wrap-up session of this six-week Bible study on Wednesday, May 23, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room. All are welcome.
Are you in the mood for engaging conversation on matters of faith and life in a fun, informal setting? Then join Pr. Randy for Theology Tapped on Thursday, May 24, from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m., at Monk’s House of Ale Repute, 420 E. 8th St.

A Little Further Out...

Reading Rocks!, the OSL Library’s summer reading program, will run from June 3 through Aug. 5. Each day they check out items, children through adults will receive a treat and submit their checkout receipt into a contest to determine which child, youth, and adult read the most books during the nine-week program. The Library will track and display the number of books read throughout the summer.

Opportunities and Things to Note...

The next Dinner to Your Door meal-making session will be on Monday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m., in The Gathering Place kitchen. Dinner to Your Door provides a meal to OSL members in need due to illness or situational challenge or crisis. If you know someone who would benefit from a Dinner to Your Door meal, contact Michelle Anderson, 336-2942, ext. 28, or Deb Harlan, 336-2942, ext. 48. Let Deb know if you plan to help prepare meals on June 4.
OSL supports the Food To You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items throughout the year, which will be used by local families in need. The food item for May is peanut butter; for June it will be tuna and tuna helper. Donations may be placed in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library.
The Summer Food Service Program will return to OSL this year. In 2017, OSL served over 8,000 free meals to young people in the community through this partnership with Embe. You can be a part of this exciting ministry in two ways, as a volunteer (as your schedule allows) or as the part-time Site Coordinator, keeping track of the number of meals served and other administrative details from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. Contact Pr. Sami, sjohnson@oslchurch.com or 336-2942, ext. 12, if you wish to be involved.
