Our Savior’s Call Committee

The OSL Board is pleased to announce that it has selected the following individuals who will serve as the Call Committee for our next Lead Pastor. We were blessed to have many outstanding candidates nominated to serve in this role, and we worked to thoughtfully select a group that would represent various facets of our congregation and our various ministries.

The Call Committee will be installed during services this weekend and they welcome the opportunity to talk with members as we walk through this process together. As a reminder, we will have our monthly Congregational Forum after service this Saturday and between services on Sunday, where we will provide a variety of updates.

In addition, Bishop Constanze Hagmaier will be at OSL on Sunday September 29 to discuss the Ministry Site Profile between services. The Ministry Site Profile (MSP) is utilized as part of the call process.

Please join us in thanking these individuals for their service to our Congregation and please keep them all in your prayers as we continue through this call process together.

David Missal

I’m David Missal, husband to Sarah and father to Marlow, Reagan, Bodie and Oscar. I’m a Certified Financial Planner with Thrivent where I specialize in retirement accumulation and distribution planning.  I spend any time I’m not at the office chasing my kids around whether it’s at activities around town or playing in our neighborhood.  I participate in long distance endurance races like Marathons, Trail Runs and Ironman Triathlons.  I’m called to serve on the call committee for Our Saviors to help find the right pastor who can help our congregation build on an unbelievable rock-solid membership base for years to come and grow that membership base with young families.

Fred Aderhold

Hello – my name is Fred Aderhold.  My wife Sue and I have been members of Our Saviour’s since 1988.  Of our 4 daughters, two of them were confirmed and two were married at OSL.  I was raised on the family farm near Castlewood, SD, attended Augustana College and earned a degree in biology.  Sue is also an Augie alum, and our first teaching job was in Spencer, SD.  Over the years of raising our family, we lived in Lynwood, Calif, Dimock, SD, and Milbank, SD.  I finished advanced degrees from South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota.  My education allowed me to serve as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and university instructor prior to my retirement.  At OSL I am blessed to be part of the Stephen Minister program.  My granddaughter Elizabeth and I also help with delivering Meals on Wheels.  I’m very grateful to serve as a member of the call committee.   I love the Lord and I love Our Saviors.  I appreciate all of the hard work the task force has expended to complete a report that provides guidance for Our Saviors and for hiring a pastor to lead us through the many recommendations approved at our annual meeting.

Margot L. Nelson, PhD RN

I am a retired faculty member of Augustana University and have been a member of Our Savior’s for over 40 years.  I am in the choir, have been a Stephen Minister,  and  am a past member of the quilters’ group.  I have two adult sons, five grandchildren, and (almost) three great-grands.  I enjoy card games, travel, camping, jigsaw puzzles, and time with my spouse and dog.

I feel  I can devote the necessary time to commit to this very important project, I have had experience with interviewing job candidates in my role as Nursing Department chair at Augustana, and I am willing to use my gifts of communication and discernment in service to the Our Savior’s Lutheran congregation.

Brendan Parks

As a lifelong member at Our Savior’s, I am happy to serve our congregation as a member of the call committee. I was raised in Sioux Falls and moved elsewhere for some years for my education and employment as a professional chef. After returning to Sioux Falls, I’m glad to be worshiping at Our Savior’s again. The process of calling a new pastor is something I am eager to learn more about while having the opportunity to serve Our Savior’s through this committee. I value teamwork, faith filled hospitality, and look forward to listening to and representing the views of the congregation.

Deb Versteeg

I was born the 12th child of small farmers in west central Minnesota.  I came to Sioux Falls in 1975 to attend Augustana University.  After graduation I worked for Citibank for 40 years, retiring about 2 and a half years ago.  I have attended several churches over the years but came to OSL at the invitation of Nate and Suzanne Anderson in the fall of 2014.  It was the best decision I have ever made.  I wanted to be a part of the call committee because I love OSL and want it to help it to overcome the challenges of the past year and continue to thrive; if I can be a small part of that goal, I am truly honored to serve.
