Communicating with Joy
Our Savior’s will partner with numerous local agencies to present “Communicating With Joy – When Your Loved One or Friend Has Dementia” on Saturday, November 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in The Gathering Place.
This event is for anyone who spends time with those affected by various forms and stages of dementia—family members, friends, faith community members, and others.
Attendees will be able to
• Understand the losses that people with dementia experience as the brain fails, and learn how to assist in compensating for these losses.
• Share practical verbal and nonverbal communication skills that help the person feel heard and supported.
• Learn how to creatively and effectively turn challenging situations into moments of joy.
• Identify how faith communities can support with dignity, grace, hope, and joy.
• Access resources and tools that enhance caregiving resilience and joy.
The event is free to participants; a freewill offering will be accepted.
For more information or to register, contact Michelle Anderson, RN, Faith Community Nurse, firstname.lastname@example.org or 336-2942, ext. 28.
