Coming Up at OSL – 05/08/25

Get ready for some summer fun right here at OSL! This June 11, we’re hosting our OSL Summer Blast, an evening packed with activities for everyone. Come and enjoy Live Music by Mogen’s and check out the cool rides at our Cruisin’ Classics Car & Motorcycle Show, featuring vehicles from the Great Plains Street Rodders and our own members.

For the kids (and the young at heart), we’ll have Bounce Houses and Face Painting from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. And when you get hungry, grab some delicious Outdoor Brats, Burgers, and Chips provided by Miller Funeral Home & El Riad Shriners. We’ll conclude the evening with a time of worship at 6:30 p.m. Join us at 909 W. 33rd Street for a fantastic summer celebration!

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church invites you to a Clean Comedy Night with Tim Boyd on Wednesday, July 16, at 7:00 p.m. This family-friendly event will take place at at OSL, 909 W 33rd Street Road. Admission is free, with a freewill offering to support the cause. Bring the whole family for an evening of laughter and fun!

The spiritual care team invites those 18 years and older to complete the Congregation Health and Wellness Survey! The purpose of this survey is to better understand the needs and desired informational topics of the congregation. The data collected will be used by the spiritual care team and the faith community nurse to choose topics for educational and wellness events as well as the monthly newsletter. We ask that you complete the survey before May 31, 2025 so that we can brainstorm and plan the year to come. There is a QR code posted as well as paper copies available for completion. All answers will be kept confidential

Ages: Currently in preschool through 5th grade. Preschoolers must be fully potty trained to attend!

OSL staff has been updating our offering envelope mailing lists to better serve our members. We now have two options: Weekly Envelopes (mailed out 6 times per year); or Church Holiday Envelopes Only (mailed out once per year, for those who are on First Fruits, IRA giving, etc.). If you are receiving the weekly envelopes but prefer to receive only the annual Church Holiday envelopes, OR if you do not receive envelopes but you would like to be, please call the church office at 605-336-2942 to update your preference.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church confirmed members are asked to fill out a communion registration card only once per year. Visitors are welcome to fill out the card and share any contact information you would like us to have, including your email address and phone number. You are not required to fill out a card to receive Holy Communion.

Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Food to You event on May 22 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve and support our community by helping distribute food to those in need. Whether you’ve volunteered before or are joining for the first time, your time and effort will make a meaningful difference. Exciting news – sign-ups for this year’s Synod Assembly are now underway! This year’s assembly runs from Thursday, May 29 through Saturday, May 31 and offers a fantastic chance for us to shine as we welcome pastors, ministers, and lay people during this important election year. To make signing up easy, you’ll find hard copies at the information desk, or contact Debbie Theis (dtheis@oslchurch.com). Let’s start spreading the word about the need for volunteers to help make this event a welcoming and successful one!

As we get ready to welcome kids to VBS this June, we need your help stocking up on snacks for the journey! We’ve created an Amazon registry with all the food items needed for the week. We are excited to announce that we have gathered all the volunteers needed for the upcoming Klein Ranch Servant Trip! With the volunteer spots filled, we are now turning our attention to raising the remaining $6,500 needed to support the trip and purchase essential supplies for restoring the camp.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re already about halfway toward reaching our fundraising goal. Your continued support is greatly appreciated as we work to make this mission trip a success and make a meaningful impact on the camp’s restoration.

VBS Decorating and Prop Making will take place on May 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the youth room! This is an open invitation for anyone and everyone to come help make VBS extra special. Your creativity and hands-on support will make a big difference—hope to see you there!
