Things to Note…

Healing Service graphicA Lenten Service of Healing will be incorporated into the Midweek Worship Services on March 22, at noon and 6:40 p.m., in the Sanctuary. The Service of Healing is especially intended for anyone who has experienced loss. Prayer shawls and a blessing will be given to those who come forward for individual prayer and anointing.

Photo of Library wall Next time you’re in the OSL Library, be sure to check out the new slat wall, built by OSL’s Woodshop Ministry team! It holds new and seasonal chapter books, as well as early-readers books for young patrons.

For those who have recently experienced the death of a loved one, or are still grieving the death of a loved one after some time, OSL’s Lenten Recent Loss Series is an informal time of sharing and support. The series will meet on Wednesdays through March 22, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the Chapel. A Service for Healing will be part of the midweek Lenten service on March 22, at 6:40 p.m., in the Sanctuary. We invite you to call the Church Office to register for the Recent Loss Series, or simply attend as you are able. If you like, come early and join the group for supper, beginning at 5:00, prior to class. Call Pr. Tim Lemme, 605-336-2942, if you have any questions.

Photo of grieving womanHave you experienced a loss? Are you going through a time of grief? Could you use a little extra support? Join Pr. Tim Lemme and members of OSL’s Good Grief Group each Thursday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., in the Friendship Room, for conversation, reflective study, and compassionate peer support. What makes this group so special is that all have experienced a loss and have learned that sometimes the best support comes from the love of those who have been there. To learn more, contact Pr. Tim Lemme (605-336-2942, ext. 19, or tlemme@oslchurch.com) or Ben Weins, Spiritual Care Coordinator (605-336-2942, ext. 28, or bweins@oslchurch.com) .

Opportunities to Help

Thrivent Choice imageThrivent Members: The deadline for directing your Thrivent Choice Dollars is March 31. Why not consider OSL as a recipient of some or all of your Choice Dollars? It makes a difference in supporting the ministry and mission of your church!

Photo of egg cartonsOSL is helping our neighbor, Faith Temple Church, by collecting empty egg cartons for them to use in their food giveaways. Bring your cartons to the Church Office during the week, and an OSL volunteer will get them to Faith Temple. Thank you!

Photo of friendsOne of the greatest gifts we can give to anyone is the gift of our time. A listening ear, a phone call, a quick note can be a source of comfort and a bright spot in someone’s day. OSL’s Caring Friends are volunteers who reach out monthly to OSL members residing in care facilities in the Sioux Falls area. This ministry program was created as an opportunity to minister to those who can no longer participate in worship and fellowship opportunities at OSL, to make them feel connected, and a vital part of their church family. Through phone calls, mail, visits, and prayer, Caring Friends reach out with the Love of Christ to those who often find themselves alone or disconnected. This outreach is an essential part of Our Savior’s mission to connect faith to everyday life. If you would like to participate in this ministry, contact Pr. Tim Lemme (605-336-2942, ext. 19, or tlemme@oslchurch.com) or Ben Weins, Spiritual Care Coordinator (605-336-2942, ext. 28, or bweins@oslchurch.com).

Photo of solitary man“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12) Loving and caring for one another is not just the pastor’s job—it’s something Jesus calls us all to do! Stephen Ministry connects people with special gifts for sharing Jesus’ love and care with those who need it most. If you or someone you know is going through a difficult time, contact Pr. Tim Lemme (605-336-2942, ext. 19, or tlemme@oslchurch.com) or Ben Weins, Spiritual Care Coordinator (605-336-2942, ext. 28, or bweins@oslchurch.com) to see how a Stephen Minister can help bring God’s love and care to those in need.

Food to You Mobile Food Pantry logoOSL supports the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items to help local families in need, and helping with food distributions. The item for March is hearty soup; for April, cereal. Always appreciated are toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant for Hygiene Packs. Place your donations in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library.
