Photo of Mah-Jongg tilesMah-Jongg is back! Mah-Jongg, an ancient game from China that is played with tiles, gained popularity in the United States in the 1920s, and is enjoying a resurgence today. Come to The Gathering Place on Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m., and be ready to have some fun! All skill levels are welcome. COVID-19 precautions will be followed. Wear a mask and practice social distancing. woman knittingKnitting can be good for you—it can relieve stress, be a good way to cope, and decrease the risk of cognitive impairment as you age. If you enjoy knitting, or would like to learn, join the OSL knitters for a fun and relaxing time knitting with others. The group will meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, at 9:30 a.m., in the Oasis Room. COVID protocols will be followed: wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Photo of Jigsaw Puzzle PiecesNew puzzles keep turning up on OSL’s Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange table! Visit the table near the south windows in The Gathering Place, drop off a puzzle and pick up a new one, for yourself or a friend or family member.

Photo of GraduatesOSL will recognize high school seniors with a blessing and a slideshow presentation at all worship services the weekend of May 23–23. High school seniors, send a senior picture or picture of you at a church activity (camp, an event, milestone, confirmation, mission trip, etc.), along with your plans after graduation, by Friday, May 14, to John, Please title the picture file with the student’s name, and be sure to include the event and year.

Staycation Exploration GraphicFrom earth’s creation to sending us out, we’ll explore God’s Good Creation through Staycation Exploration! This CrossGen at-home experience comes with a bag containing instructions, scripture study, Freddy music, crafting, games, and activity supplies for your household to explore one theme per week for a month. Staycation Exploration is geared for families with children age three through fifth grade, and will be offered free only this summer. Register online via My OSL. WELCA logoAre you a woman looking for a place to study the Word of God and grow in your faith? Then WELCA (Women of the ELCA) is the place for you! Two of OSL’s circles have been meeting via Zoom for the last few months and would like to invite you to join them!
Women of Faith meets on the second Wednesday of each month, at 5:30 p.m. Their next meeting is May 12. Women of Faith utilizes Bible studies from the monthly Gather magazine, available via subscription ( on in the OSL Library. Contact Deb Harlan,, if you wish to join this circle.
Renewing Faith meets on Thursday nights at 7:00. Their next meeting is May 13. Renewing Faith uses various Bible studies, currently One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. The study guide can be sent to you via email. Contact Nancy Krueger,

Summer Camp photoOSL’s partners at Ingham Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camps, Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota, and Shetek Lutheran Ministries are offering summer programming for youth and families. Summer camp is where lifelong memories and lifelong faith are formed, so Our Savior’s wishes to help you attend by providing money towards your camp fee. Photo of monitor showing Premiere ProEvery week or so, Our Savior’s Communications produces a short Information Video of upcoming events, activities, and opportunities. It’s shown at the Welcome Center and on monitors in the Sanctuary and Celebrate Center before worship services. And it’s posted to the OSL website as well, so if you haven’t been by for a while, or you’d just like a closer look, find the videos here!

Freddy's Faith-full friends screenshotLook for Freddy the Flamingo and his friends Rosie and Matthew every other Tuesday on OSL’s Facebook page! Freddy, Rosie, and Matthew will teach you a song and help you participate in Sunday worship from home.

• View (or print) weekly worship materials at
• Watch worship services on TV: Celebrate: 9:00 a.m., FOX-TV (channel 46.2); Festive: 1:00 p.m., KSCB (cable channel 30; channel 53).
• Catch live-stream worship services at Celebrate, 8:45 a.m.; Festive, 10:15 a.m.
• Watch recorded services at, uploaded on Monday.
• Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

A Stephen Minister may provide a helpful spiritual boost. They will listen, care, encourage, and pray with and for you. Stephen Ministers have been specially trained to meet your emotional and spiritual needs. Opportunities to Help

Photo of SocksThe SIGH Clinic (Stepping into Good Health), a project that works to ensure that men and women find an open door to healthcare services, invites donations of these items this summer:
• Small bottles of lotion or cream
• Lightweight socks for men or women
• Diabetic socks in all colors
• New or gently used walking-type shoes (no sandals or flip-flops)
• Small devotionals

There’s a designated box in the Caring Ministries area, by Michelle’s office, for your donation. Thank you for your generosity!

Meals on Wheels logoThe Meals on Wheels delivery calendar for May through August is being compiled now. To volunteer to help with this important outreach ministry, check your calendar and call Sandy Garnas, 338-5440. You may do the route by yourself or team up with a spouse, neighbor, or friend and do it together. Thanks to all the volunteers who reach out to our neighbors through this vital program!

Food to You Mobile Food Pantry logoBe one of the volunteers helping out when OSL sponsors and staffs the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry drive-through distribution on May 27 at St. John American Lutheran Church. Food to You Mobile Food Pantry logoOSL supports the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items to help local families in need, and helping with food distributions. The item for May is peanut butter; for June it will be tuna and tuna helper. Always appreciated are toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant for Hygiene Packs. Place your donations in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library.
