Photo of OSL LibraryReminder: The OSL Library is open and waiting for you! Stop in soon and browse the extensive collection of books, music, and movies. Visit the online catalog at Atriuum, which includes the Library’s current hours. See you soon!
Music Devotional Episode 20In the 20th installment of OSL’s Music Devotion Series, Julie Oien and Jeanne Carter share an Easter reflection by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and comment on and perform “Thine Is the Glory,” arr. Lloyd Larson. View it here, and catch up with all episodes via the link you’ll find there too.
Photo of Mah-Jongg tilesMah-Jongg is back! Mah-Jongg, an ancient game from China that is played with tiles, gained popularity in the United States in the 1920s, and is enjoying a resurgence today. Come to The Gathering Place on Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m., and be ready to have some fun! All skill levels are welcome. COVID-19 precautions will be followed. Wear a mask and practice social distancing. Questions? Contact Deb Harlan, 336-2942, ext. 48, or dharlan@oslchurch.com.
masks graphicIn light of new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding masks, all fully vaccinated persons may participate in worship at OSL without a mask. All others may participate fully and safely in worship if they are wearing a mask. (You may see the pastoral team wearing masks in worship when they are not actively leading the liturgy; this is a choice they’ve made to demonstrate love and care for all.) If you have not yet received your COVID–19 vaccination, you are strongly encouraged to do so. The vaccine is safe and effective and our best defense in the fight against this aggressive virus, and they might just be our best chance for enjoying bacon again here at church on Sunday morning!
woman knittingKnitting can be good for you—it can relieve stress, be a good way to cope, and decrease the risk of cognitive impairment as you age. If you enjoy knitting, or would like to learn, join the OSL knitters for a fun and relaxing time knitting with others. The group will meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, at 9:30 a.m., in the Oasis Room. COVID protocols will be followed: wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Photo of Jigsaw Puzzle ExchangeNew puzzles keep turning up on OSL’s Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange table! Visit the table near the south windows in The Gathering Place, drop off a puzzle and pick up a new one, for yourself or a friend or family member.
Photo of printing platesTo limit the spread of COVID-19, digital bulletins are available for you to use with your mobile device, whether you worship from home or at OSL. Here is the bulletin for Saturday evening; for Sunday Festive worship; and for Sunday Celebrate worship.

Things to Note…

Staycation Exploration GraphicFrom earth’s creation to sending us out, we’ll explore God’s Good Creation through Staycation Exploration! This CrossGen at-home experience comes with a bag containing instructions, scripture study, Freddy music, crafting, games, and activity supplies for your household to explore one theme per week for a month. Staycation Exploration is geared for families with children age three through fifth grade, and will be offered free only this summer. Register online via My OSL. Registration is due by June 1; bags may be picked up on July 1. Questions? Contact Melissa Nesdahl, mnesdahl@oslchurch.com.
Photo of Hands Holding LightsThe Hope for Living with Illness or Cancer group will meet for fellowship, simple treats, and coffee on Tuesday, June 8, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., in The Gathering Place. If you have been struggling with COVID recovery and/or the general effects of the pandemic, come…and bring a friend: this past year has been tough for everyone! Future meeting ideas and plans will be discussed. (Fully vaccinated and comfortable? No need to wear a mask.) Contact Michelle Anderson, RN, Faith Community Nurse, 336-2942, ext. 28, or mianderson@oslchurch.com if you have questions.
Photo of SunflowerSummer fast approaches, and with it the summer worship schedule. Which, actually, is going to be the same schedule that’s been in place during the pandemic: Saturday worship at 5:00 p.m., Sunday Celebrate worship at 8:45 a.m., and Sunday Festive worship at 10:15 a.m. Outdoor Celebrate worship will be held, weather permitting, on the first and third Sundays of the month, on the south lawn and parking lot, starting June 6. Bring a chair and don’t forget your sunscreen! (Outdoor worship will be postponed one week if weather is unfavorable.)

Summer Blasts 2021 LogoAnother sign of summer (and COVID-19 optimism): OSL Summer Blasts are back on the docket! Details are still developing, but keep Wednesdays, June 9, July 14, and August 11, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., open on your calendar. It’s safe to mention that OSL’s Car and Motorcycle Show will take place at the July Blast, and that food, music, and lots of fun will be featured at all three! Watch for details to follow.

Wellness Wheel graphicThe Wednesday Wellness Series is returning! This is a balanced, grace-oriented series covering seven topics on the Church Health “Model for Healthy Living” Wellness Wheel: Faith Life, Medical, Movement, Work, Emotional, Nutrition, and Friends & Family. How do we balance these in the context of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic? Come for informal and fun conversation with old and new friends! The series will run on Wednesdays, June 9 through July 21, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., in the shade near the southwest corner of the building. Bring a lawn chair, coffee, snacks, etc. Social distancing will be practiced, respecting the comfort of each other. In case of rain, meet in The Gathering Place. No registration is required. Contact Michelle Anderson, RN, Faith Community Nurse, with questions: 336-2942, ext. 28, or mianderson@oslchurch.com.

Photo of a Man ThinkingLooking for mental health or community care information and resources? Michelle Anderson, RN, Faith Community Nurse, would be happy to help anyone find a support connection or resource that is right for them! There have been recent changes in many community care agencies, and Michelle has current information about several mental health and caregiver support groups (in-person, hybrid, and Zoom) that may help families find hope and help if they are struggling with caregiver stress, whether caring for someone with a serious mental health condition or from the demands that accompany caring for an aging family member. Contact Michelle for assistance: 336-2942, ext. 28, or mianderson@oslchurch.com.

It’s shown at the Welcome Center and on monitors in the Sanctuary and Celebrate Center before worship services. And it’s posted to the OSL website as well, so if you haven’t been by for a while, or you’d just like a closer look, find the videos here!

Photo of Person Sitting on RocksSpring renewal has replaced the cold of winter, and summer’s warmth will soon be upon us. We continue to long for a release from Covid-fatigue, and opportunities to safely gather in larger summer settings. If Covid-fatigue continues to trouble you, and you are stuck in the fear caused by more than a year of isolation, Stephen Ministers can assist. They will listen, care and pray with and for you. There are safe online and tele-support options to allow for safe discussions and support. Contact Deb Harlan, 336-2942, ext. 48, or dharlan@oslchurch.com for more information.
