Photo of lefse grillIf you ordered lefse from OSL’s Women of the ELCA, your pick-up date approaches! Lefse will be distributed this Sunday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Drive up under the canopy at the south entrance and remain in your car. Please wear a mask, and have exact change or a check made out to OSL-WELCA: a package of three is $6. Thanksgiving imageWhere does a person find hope when life at times seems so out of control? How can we, as a people of faith, find the strength we need to trust in the God who promises to be with us, in all things? How can we give thanks even in times such as these? Home Devotions for the Week of Thanksgiving were mailed from the Church Office on November 18, and are available online at May these daily devotions and Thanksgiving service bring you peace during this holiday season, and may you too experience God’s presence with you, in all things.

Angel TreeAngel Tree gifts are due next Wednesday! For your convenience and safety you may participate in two ways:
• Pick up a card from the Angel Tree in the front entrance, near the Library, or
• Access the Virtual Angel Tree.
If you select a name from the Virtual Angel Tree, be sure to print the appropriate color tag (attached photo), fill in the corresponding information, and tape it to your gift(s). All gifts are due to the Church Office, unwrapped, by Wednesday, November 25. Thank you for blessing children that may otherwise not receive a gift this Christmas. Why not pass that puzzle on to someone who appreciates working puzzles, and get a new one? OSL is starting a Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange! Visit the table near the south windows in The Gathering Place, drop off a puzzle and take a new one home!

Christmas Program graphicStudents age four through grade five, it’s time to begin practicing for “Lamb of God,” the Virtual 2020 OSL Children’s Christmas Program. You’ll learn your part and submit your video from your home at a time convenient for you. Begin practicing now with the links sent via email from Melissa Nesdahl, Director of Faith Formation. This program was written by OSL’s Matthew Tylutki (Principal Organist) and Rosie Linsner (Volunteer Music and Movement Coordinator), so you’ll be the first to share this story! Photo of TV with OSL LogoChanges in ownership at KTTW in Sioux Falls means changes in where you may find OSL’s Celebrate worship service broadcast. From what we’ve been told so far, the 9:00 a.m. broadcast will be on cable channel 46-2 (channel 47 on DirecTV). You may want to check your TV provider’s program listing before Sunday morning. The Festive worship service will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on cable channel 30, as usual.

It’s shown at the Welcome Center and on monitors in the Sanctuary and Celebrate Center before worship services. Advanced Care Planning ResourcesWhat happens if we become seriously ill or disabled and may not be able to speak for ourselves? Have the conversation about Advanced Care Planning Directives!—make sure your loved ones know your personal choices and wishes. “Go Wish,” a fun, easy-to-use card game, can help get the conversation started. Pandemic Fatrigue imageExperiencing Pandemic Fatigue? Exhausted from all the disruptions to life brought on by the pandemic? Struggling with challenges like isolation and loneliness, anxiety over health, tension from juggling work, childcare, and schooling, financial strain or job loss, uncertainty about the future, or ther unexpected life challenges? You don’t have to face it alone! OSL’s Stephen Ministers are ready to listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. It’s free and completely confidential. Freddy's Faith-full friends screenshotLook for Freddy the Flamingo and his friends Rosie and Matthew every other Tuesday on OSL’s Facebook page! Freddy, Rosie, and Matthew will teach you a song and help you participate in Sunday worship from home.

    • Caregiver Support Program provides emotional support, advocacy, and resources to caregivers through regular telephone conversations. The program is free to South Dakota residents who are caregivers to an adult. To enroll, dial 211 and ask about the Caregiver Support Program.
    • “Caregiver Conference 2020 – Giving Care, Taking Care” is a series of free virtual sessions throughout November. Registration is required: contact Carmen Spurling, Active Generations, 333-3319 or
    • OSL’s Memory Care Group will continue to meet on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., but will be using Zoom. For more information, contact Michelle Anderson, RN, Faith Community Nurse, 336-2942 or Larry Budahl, the group’s founder and facilitator, is handing leadership over to Ron Nelson and Pam Evenson. Thank you Larry, for helping so many families for nearly eight years!

Stephen Ministry photoThe joy of Christmas can turn into a time of painful loneliness and emptiness for those who have suffered a loss, who are going through a difficult time, or are suffering from the stress of COVID-19. But help is available. OSL’s Stephen Ministers will listen, care, encourage, pray with and for you, and support you through the holidays and as long as your need persists. Opportunities to Help

Maybe you have sensed the Holy Spirit nudging you toward serving in a leadership role at Our Savior’s, or maybe you’ve had your eye on someone whom you think would serve the congregation well as a member of the Governing Board. Three new board members—vice president, treasurer, and an at-large member—will be elected at the annal meeting in January. Use the form you’ll find here to nominate someone you have identified as a potential leader, or to nominate yourself. Return completed forms to the Church Office during normal office hours, or to Anne Rieck McFarland (, no later than December 15.

Animated countdown gifBe someone who counts! Offering counters meet on Monday mornings for approximately two hours. Why not be one of them? No experience is necessary. More counters are especially needed for January through April. For details, call Barb Haugan, 336-2942, ext. 23.

Food to You Mobile Food Pantry logoOSL supports the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items to help local families in need, and helping with food distributions. The item for November is peanut butter; for December it will be tuna and tuna helper. Place your donations in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library.

Campus Cupboard photoThanks to your generosity, OSL’s Campus Cupboard is a big success—so much so that USF students are now invited to use it! Want to help out our university neighbors? Here are two options:
• Volunteer to help out—there are slots for two volunteers on each of these days: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3:45 to 7:00 p.m.; Sunday mornings, 9:00 to 11:00. Procedures are in place to ensure everyone’s safety and minimal contact. Get in touch with Pr. Justin Kosec, 336-2942, ext. 44, or
• Buy some, or all, of the items on the shopping list you’ll find here.
