Coming up at OSL logo
Welcome to Church bannerParents/caregivers of two-year-old students, the Welcome to Church Milestone, will be happening this Sunday, September 25, so if you haven’t signed up, be sure to do so now! You’ll gather in the Friendship Room with Pr. Justin at 9:45 a.m. before embarking on a photo scavenger-hunt together. At each station your child will receive a puzzle piece to take home, making a fun puzzle that week. And then the following Sunday you will get to pick up your child’s individualized photo book in the Frolic room to read over and over, reminding your child they are loved and welcomed at OSL. A video highlighting the children’s experience will be showing in all worship services on October 2. Sign up now via this SignUpGenius link.

Book Cover: Honoring Our Neighbor's FaithSaturday Morning Bible Study at OSL meets weekly, from 8:30 to 9:30, in the Conference Room. All are welcome—women as well as men—to come for Bible study, conversation, and, yes, donuts and coffee! The fall study is based on conversations around different faith traditions and denominations, utilizing the book Honoring Our Neighbor’s Faith. For more information contact Pr. Tim Lemme, 605-336-2942, ext. 19, or tlemme@oslchurch.com.

Photo of grieving womanHave you experienced a loss? Are you going through a time of grief? Could you use a little extra support? Join Pr. Tim Lemme and members of OSL’s Good Grief Group each Thursday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., in the Friendship Room, for conversation, reflective study, and compassionate peer support. What makes this group so special, is that all have experienced a loss and have learned that sometimes the best support comes from the love of those who have been there. To learn more, contact Pr. Tim Lemme (605-336-2942, ext. 19, or tlemme@oslchurch.com) or Ben Weins, Spiritual Care Coordinator (605-336-2942, ext. 28, or bweins@oslchurch.com) .

GIF of scrambled TV pixelsEvery week, Our Savior’s Communications produces a short Information Video of upcoming events, activities, and opportunities. It’s shown at the Welcome Center and on monitors in the Sanctuary and Celebrate Center before worship services. And it’s posted to the OSL website as well, so if you haven’t been by for a while, or you’d just like a closer look, find the videos here!

Opportunities to Help

Campus Cupboard photoOSL’s Campus Cupboard helps OSL’s Augustana University and University of Sioux Falls neighbors with food items to help them get by when dining halls are unavailable (such as during school holidays). With classes underway, it’s good to keep the Cupboard well stocked. Visit oslchurch.com to see a shopping list of popular items (spoiler alert: students like ramen. A lot), and you’ll find a labeled cart near the south entrance for your donations. Thank you for your generosity!

Our Savior’s Choir, now incorporating the Response Singers, will have a second “early bird” rehearsal (the first was last week) to prepare for Kickoff Sunday, on Wednesday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m., and afterward will rehearse on Sunday mornings at 9:30, in the Choir Room, starting on September 11. The choir is open to high-school students and adults.
The Bells of Our Savior’s, open to high-school students and adults, will resume meeting on Tuesday evenings, from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. in the Bell Room, starting on September 13.

Photo of friendsOne of the greatest gifts we can give to anyone is the gift of our time. A listening ear, a phone call, a quick note can be a source of comfort and a bright spot in someone’s day. OSL’s Caring Friends are volunteers who reach out monthly to OSL members residing in care facilities in the Sioux Falls area. This ministry program was created as an opportunity to minister to those who can no longer participate in worship and fellowship opportunities at OSL, to make them feel connected, and a vital part of their church family. Through phone calls, mail, visits, and prayer, Caring Friends reach out with the Love of Christ to those who often find themselves alone or disconnected. This outreach is an essential part of Our Savior’s mission to connect faith to everyday life. If you would like to participate in this ministry, contact Pr. Tim Lemme (605-336-2942, ext. 19, or tlemme@oslchurch.com) or Ben Weins, Spiritual Care Coordinator (605-336-2942, ext. 28, or bweins@oslchurch.com).

Photo by MiladaChrist Caring for People through People is the motto of Stephen Ministry. The Stephen Minister’s role is to bring God’s love into the lives of people who are going through a difficult time or experiencing a crisis. They listen, care, support, encourage, and pray with and for a person who is hurting. And in the midst of this confidential, one-to-one, caring relationship, God’s healing love comes pouring through. If someone you know is facing a crisis, large or small, and could benefit from the caring presence of a Stephen Minister, contact Pr. Tim Lemme (605-336-2942, ext. 19, or tlemme@oslchurch.com) or Ben Weins, Spiritual Care Coordinator (605-336-2942, ext. 28, or bweins@oslchurch.com).

Food to You Mobile Food Pantry logoOSL supports the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items to help local families in need, and helping with food distributions. The item for October is any kind of cereal; for November, peanut butter. Always appreciated are toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant for Hygiene Packs. Place your donations in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library.
