Looking for engaging conversation on matters of faith and life in a fun, informal setting? Join Pr. Randy for Theology Tapped on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m., at Monk’s House of Ale Repute, 420 E. 8th St.
Mental Health First Aid is the initial help given to someone who may be developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. It is not a substitute for professional help, but may help in stabilizing the person until appropriate professional assistance is engaged. Wellness Wednesdays, an informal time of grace and encouragement with a balanced approach to overall well-being, continues at 6:00 p.m. in Caring Ministries. Register with Michelle, 336-2942, ext. 28, or A suggested donation of $5 will help defray the cost of the booklet used.

OSL Food Ministry will serve breakfast this Sunday in The Gathering Place, starting at 9:30. This week’s menu: French toast sticks. Wednesday dinner will be lasagna. Thank you for contributing to the freewill offering to help cover expenses.
The third annual Chili Cook-Off/Cupcake Walk will be this Sunday, Feb. 24, at noon, in The Gathering Place. Come enjoy a variety of chilis prepared by your OSL friends, and vote for your favorite in the People’s Choice Award. A secret panel will award first-, second-, and third-place honors. Not a fan of chili? There will be soups available too! And, as usual, a cupcake walk will be held during the event. Proceeds will go toward Mission: Possible Reignite.
The OSL Library’s winter One Church One Read is Sold on a Monday by Krista McMorris. Inspired by an actual newspaper photograph that stunned the nation, Sold on a Monday is a powerful novel of love, redemption, and the unexpected paths that bring us home. Check out a copy in the Library, then join in the discussion on March 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room.

A Little Further Out...

On Sunday, March 3, members of Pueblo de Dios, OSL’s mission partner, will make breakfast as a thank-you for our ongoing friendship. That morning, you may take your breakfast to the Friendship Room to meet Jordan Bruxvoort, the new coordinator of Vecinos Unidos (formerly Ayuda), as he shares more about mission work with our Latino/a/x brothers and sisters here in Sioux Falls.
Everyone is invited to the Silent Auction Banquet and Youth Talent Show, on Sunday, March 3, at 5:00 p.m., in The Gathering Place. Come for a fantastic meal and support OSL’s talented middle- and high-school students as they put on a show you will not soon forget! The kids will be sharing some of their hopes and goals for the summer, and taking a moment to thank everyone for helping with the Silent Auction. All are welcome to join in the Button Cross Canvas Cross+Gen Event, on March 10, at 10:00 a.m., in Fellowship Hall. Come explore the Lenten theme through meaningful discussion while designing your own cross!
Walking Workout Wednesdays will begin on March 13, at 10:00 a.m., in Fellowship Hall, and continue through April 10. Using a Leslie Sansone DVD, the group will walk in place with easy-to-follow moves for shaping the waistline, flattening the tummy, and strengthening the back. Following the DVD workout, everyone will be invited on a 30-minute walk around the building—inside, of course! Come for a fun, active time.

OSL Caring Friends are volunteers who serve members who are homebound or in nursing homes or care facilities, to help those folks feel connected to the Body of Christ. If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a Caring Friend, contact Deb Harlan, 336-2942, ext. 48, or
OSL supports the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items throughout the year, which will be used by local families in need. The food item for February will be pasta; for March it will be hearty soup. Donations may be placed in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library.
Hospital Visitation is a vital ministry that lets OSL members know they matter to both God and their church family. Opportunities exist for you to volunteer, and training will be provided! Contact Pr. Tim Lemme, or 336- 2942, ext. 19, or Deb Harlan, or 336-2942, ext. 48, for details.

Youth and Family Notes

Only nine slots remain for your four- or five-year-old preschool student to carry Plush Jesus for their Walk with Jesus Milestone! Register your child via this SignUpGenius link. When your child has Plush Jesus, you will take photos and fill out an info sheet about activities shared, to be used for a video that will be shared in worship on March 31.
The First Grade Lord’s Prayer Milestone will be on March 17. Students and their parents or caring adults will attend a pastor-led Family Time at 10:00 a.m., in the Friendship Room, where you will make beautiful “Our Father” wooden cross ornaments and discuss this milestone in faith. Then, during the 11:00 Festive worship service, you will lead the congregation in the Lord’s Prayer. Family Time will be in lieu of Sunday School for Sunday learners on March 17.
All students age four through fifth grade will sing in the 11:00 a.m. Festive worship service on March 17. If your child is a Sunday learner, please pick him or her up from Sunday School, show your child where you will be sitting in worship, and then help him or her line up outside the Library to sing.
