OSL Food Ministry is taking a summer break, but you are welcome to engage in OSL’s Core Value of Community by enjoying a cup of coffee and conversation with your OSL friends in The Gathering Place on Sunday mornings.

The Library Committee has selected Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens as its Summer One Church One Read title. Where the Crawdads Sing is an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps. Check out one of the 11 copies available in the Library, then join the discussion on Sept. 22, at 10:00 a.m., in the Library.
The Church Office will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The Church Office will be back in business on Friday, July 5.
The OSL Library’s summer reading program, “A Universe of Stories,” runs through Aug. 4. Each day they check out items, children, youth (through high school), and adults will receive a treat; children will also receive a prize. The one who reads the most books in each age group will receive a $15 gift card. The Library will track and display the number of books each person reads on the Universe of Stories bulletin board. Readers will also “testify” how God speaks to them through books by writing on their “planet” on the bulletin board.
OSL’s Men’s Bible Breakfast group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Room. A continental breakfast is provided by members at each gathering. Men of all ages are invited to attend this one-hour Bible study. Contact Pr. Tim Lemme, tlemme@oslchurch.com or 336-2942, ext. 19.
Meet in the Labyrinth Room for Walking Workout Wednesdays! Come at 10:00 a.m. to walk in place with a Leslie Sansone DVD, then cool down with a walk outside (or inside, depending on weather). End with an optional Wellness series discussion in The Gathering Place. Questions? OSL is once again a site for the Summer Food Service Program, which provides free, nutritious lunches to children through age 18, Monday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in Fellowship Hall. Thanks for your generous support!
The summer project for OSL’s Peace by Piece quilting ministry will be to make quilts and lap robes for veterans at the VA Hospital, and others in need.
