OSL Food Ministry will serve the last breakfast of the season this Sunday in The Gathering Place, starting at 9:30. This week’s menu: Eggs and bacon. Thank you for contributing to the freewill offering to help cover expenses.
Bags for the Homebound will be delivered this Sunday, May 19. This is a great way to help remind OSL members who are unable to regularly attend worship services that their church family cares about them. If you signed up to help with delivery, thank you! If you haven’t signed up but would like to help, stop by the west side of The Gathering Place. This is a great family activity, and is deeply appreciated by the recipients!
Midnight Madness is this Sunday, May 19, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight! OSL’s Augie neighbors, preparing for finals, are invited over for an evening of relaxation, studying, and, of course, eating. Thanks to everyone who has signed up to help out, or has contributed to the pizza fund!
Spring is in the air for Friendship Club! On Tuesday, May 21, OSL members Joyce Kaatz and Ralph Johnshoy will be telling us all about butterflies, how to raise them, and what we can learn from these beautiful creatures. Friendship Club meets in the Friendship Room at 10:30 a.m., with lunch following at 11:30 in The Gathering Place.

Parents, grandparents, and their little ones: OSL’s first intergenerational Bigs and Littles Dance will be this Saturday, May 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Co-hosted with OSL’s ministry partner Pueblo de Dios, the dance will feature games, great food, a photo booth, and more. A suggested $10 donation per family will go toward flood relief in Sioux Falls.
Meet in the Labyrinth Room for Walking Workout Wednesdays! Come at 10:00 a.m. to walk in place with a 20-minute Leslie Sansone DVD, then cool down with a 20-minute walk outside (or inside, depending on weather). End with an optional seven-week Wellness series discussion (20 minutes) in The Gathering Place. Questions? Register now for ROAR! — OSL’s 2019 Vacation Bible School, reminding kids that life is wild but God is good. VBS (for potty-trained children age three through completing fifth grade) will meet from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 10, through Thursday, June 13, and costs $10 per child. On Thursday there will be a program for families at 11:30 a.m., with pizza to follow. Each family unit will receive one free VBS CD; additional CDs are $5 each. Register via oslchurch.com/events. Cruisin’ Classics, the first of this year’s OSL Summer Blasts, will be on June 12, featuring the fourth annual OSL Car & Motorcycle Show, plus music by Mogen’s Heroes, food, fun and games, and outdoor worship. Lunch, Look, and Learn: Curious about community living options in the Sioux Falls area? Join Michelle Anderson, RN, Faith Community Nurse, for the first in a summer series of group tours that include a free lunch! OSL will again host the South Dakota Synod Assembly, May 30 through June 1. Because of the assembly, there will be no Saturday evening worship service on June 1.
Come celebrate Pr. Don Lehmann’s 80th birthday and 30 years of service at OSL, on Sunday, June 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., in The Gathering Place. The program will begin at 2:45, and refreshments will be served. Contact the Church Office, 336-2942, if you plan to attend; cards may be sent to OSL.
Dust off those running or walking shoes and get ready for the second Faith in Motion 5k Fun Run/Walk, on Saturday, June 8. The walk will begin and end at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, starting at 8:30 a.m., with treats and fellowship at the church afterward. This event is sponsored by First, Gloria Dei, East Side, Our Savior’s, Spirit of Joy, and Peace Lutheran churches as a fundraiser for Lutherans Outdoors. Register (required) at the Information Center or via losd.org. A suggested donation of $10 for individuals or $25 for families is encouraged.
The Love in Action Core Ministry Team invites a few individuals interested in a service trip to Rosebud, to help build ramps, from June 20 through June 22. Participants will construct about four ramps to give elders much-needed handicap access to their homes. Spots are limited, so contact Pr. The summer project for OSL’s Peace by Piece quilting ministry will be to make quilts and lap robes for veterans at the VA Hospital, and others in need. If you have red, white, and blue cotton fabric and are looking to find a new home for it, your donation would be welcome! Leave it in the labeled bin near the Library, or in the Church Office. OSL TV Ministry has volunteer opportunities for all worship services! This is a fun, easy job, the TV Ministry crew is great to work with, and thousands of people throughout the region (and online) are impacted by this outreach ministry. Contact Pr. OSL supports the Food to You Mobile Food Pantry by donating various food items to help local families in need, and helping with food distributions. The item for June, tuna and tuna helper, may be placed in the marked bins near the south entrance, by the Library.
