Here’s your look at some of the things happening at Our Savior’s. See the current bulletin announcements at oslchurch.com for all the latest!

This weekend is the third in a four-week preaching and LifeGroup series, WORTHY. This week and next, Pr. Randy will ponder our calling as Worthy Children and Worthy Christians. Each Sunday’s message is accompanied by a complete study guide for OSL’s LifeGroup small groups ministry. Rediscover your worth in Christ Jesus!
OSL Food Ministry will serve breakfast this Sunday in The Gathering Place, starting at 9:30. On the menu: Cheese omelets, sausage patties, tri taters, orange juice, and yogurt. Wednesday dinner continues this week too—chicken pot pie in a bowl, biscuits, tossed salad, and dessert. Thank you for contributing to the freewill offering to help cover expenses.
The OSL Library’s Fall Reading Program, “We ‘FALL’ow Jesus,” will run through Nov. 25. Each day they check out items, children, youth, and adults will receive a treat and have their book receipt submitted for a chance to win a weekly $5 drawing. As the program continues, the Library’s Tree of Life display will show the beauty of God’s creation by its leaves of green turning to brilliant golds and reds, representing the ways God richly blesses and transforms us.
Connecting Faith and Life (CFL), an ongoing adult learning opportunity, will wrap up its first course, a seven-week focus on the refugee crisis, this Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the Friendship Room. Next up: Pr. Randy will begin a four-week study of the Old Testament book of Jonah, beginning on Oct. 31. All are welcome! A suggested donation of $8 will help cover the cost of materials.
Oberammergau info meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Friendship Room, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Come learn more about the 2020 trip, hosted by Prs. Randy and Shelly Gehring, to the Greek Isles and the Passion Play in Oberammergau. Note: Passion Play tickets are limited! Registration and full deposits ($800) are due by Dec. 1, 2018.
All OSL members are invited and encouraged to contribute to the 2018 Advent Devotional, “Treasures of Darkness.” Pick up a copy of the Guiding Statement at the Information Center or via oslchurch.com/events, then send your devotional to Bill Reynolds, breynolds@oslchurch.com, by Nov. 9, preferably as a Word document attached to an email message.
The OSL Library’s Fall Book Sale is this weekend. The sale will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Friendship Room. Be sure to stock up on reading, viewing, and listening for the cold, snowy winter days ahead!
Parents and caring adults will attend Sunday School with their child this Sunday, Oct. 21. Augustana University Head Softball Coach Gretta Van-Schepen will be presenting “Worthy Child: Affirming Children’s Value in Who They Are, Not How They Perform.” Learn how to find balance and build confidence in a culture that has students striving in school, music, sports, and more. All interested adults in the congregation are invited to the parent-only portion, from 10:20 to 10:50, in Fellowship Hall.
CPR/AED/First Aid Training at OSL will be on Oct. 25. Ushers, teachers, and anyone who’s interested is invited to attend this free class, taught by Jeremy Robertson of Sioux Falls Fire Rescue. Pizza supper will be at 6:00 p.m. in The Gathering Place West, followed by class from 6:30 to 7:30. Sign up at the Information Center or in the Church Office.
Church on the Street Empty Bowls event will be held at OSL on Oct. 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Come choose a bowl and receive a generous serving of soup and bread made by local churches and served by Church on the Streeters. Keep the bowl as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world. Last year Church on the Street served over 2,400 meals to hungry people, plus countless snacks. A suggested donation of $15 per person or $35 per family will help continue the ministry of Church on the Street.
