Here’s your look at some of the things happening at Our Savior’s. See the current bulletin announcements at oslchurch.com for all the latest!

Breakfast is back! OSL food ministry will serve breakfast this Sunday in The Gathering Place, starting at 9:30. This week’s menu: Bacon and eggs. Wednesday supper will return this week, too, with walking tacos. Check out the month’s menu at oslchurch.com! Thank you for contributing to the freewill offering to help cover expenses.
Connecting Faith and Life, an adult learning opportunity at OSL, will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 11, with an in-depth look into the Gospel of Luke. Together, Pr. Randy and class participants will explore how God calls the church—that’s us!—into an era of carrying the Good News about Jesus to the ends of the earth. Classes will be held weekly on Wednesday evenings, 6:00 to 7:00, in the Friendship Room and are open to all adults who enjoy learning more about how our faith connects with everyday life. A $5 donation will help defray the cost of resources and supplies.
Hy-Vee card sales will be back on Sept. 8! Stop by the Youth Information Table in The Gathering Place on Sunday mornings to purchase your cards. Five percent of each sale will support OSL Youth attending summer trips. Last year your support netted nearly $5,000 for youth trips.
Kick off the programming year with the Library! When kids and youth check out items in the Library this Sunday, Sept. 8, and Wednesday, Sept. 11, they will receive a mini football and a treat!
Faith in Motion wellness challenge has been issued again! Put on your walking or running shoes and compete against five other Lutheran congregations to determine where the traveling trophy will reside. (It’s currently at First Lutheran.) Everyone, young and old, may participate! Just keep track of your steps during September—walking, running, stair-climbers, elliptical trainers, indoors or outdoors, it all counts! Pick up an optional tracking calendar at the Information Center, if it will help you keep count. Register with Deb Harlan, dharlan@oslchurch.com or 336-2942, ext. 48.
The OSL Library will begin accepting items for its Fall Book Sale on Monday, Sept. 9! Cull your collection of books, movie DVDs and music CDs; the Library will not accept textbooks, dictionaries or encyclopedias, or VCR tapes. Donations will be accepted through Sunday, Oct. 13. The book sale will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, in the Friendship Room.
It’s Kick-Off Sunday! Regular worship hours resume, Sunday School and middle-school programs begin, High School Girls Bible Study is back—and don’t forget the Kick-Off Sunday Bake Sale, benefiting the Hope Coalition in its efforts to ensure that every child gets a chance to attend preschool. Wednesday evening programming will resume this week as well: get all the details here!
Youth Ministry Kick-Off starts this Sunday, Sept. 8. Confirmation will kick off on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. The new High School Dinner and Homework time will be at 6:30 on Sept. 11, followed by High School Youth Group Kickoff, from 7:00 to 9:00. A Little Further Out...

Second Saturday Movies return with the Sept. 14 feature, Breakthrough, at 2:30 p.m. in the Holy Word Theatre. Breakthrough is about a profound truth: prayer is our connection to God. Make a day of it with the movie, followed by worship at 5:00 in the Sanctuary, and dinner afterward in The Gathering Place!
Trip Report Weekend will be Sept. 14 and 15. OSL youth will share stories from their summer trips to Colorado and Duluth at all five weekend services. They also will serve as greeters, ushers, worship assistants, and communion assistants, and will help with Kidtalk. This weekend also will be the reveal of OSL Youth’s three 2020 summer trips as well as a preview of 2021 trips.
Three-Year-Olds’ Bible Milestone will be celebrated on Sept. 22. Gather at 10:00 a.m. in the Friendship Room for Family Time with Pr. Sami. Then, during the 11:00 Festive worship service, your families will receive a blessing and lead the congregation in singing “Jesus Loves Me.” Register in advance with Melissa Nesdahl via the SignUpGenius link you were emailed, or contact her at mnesdahl@oslchurch.com.

The Art of Letting Go: OSL Women’s Fall Retreat will be held at Inspiration Hills, near Inwood, Iowa, from 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 13, until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14.
