OSL’s Board of Stewardship and Benevolence will launch the Fall Stewardship Appeal for 2018 in mid-October. This year’s theme is Share Joy! and draws upon that well-known verse in Nehemiah, “…the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Share Joy! is about recognizing the strength we enjoy as followers of Jesus because of our trust in God’s faithfulness and, in turn, mobilizing for ministry in ways that share this joy with others. Be watching for more information coming soon in your mailbox and at OSL.
Baby on Board. Soon
Prs. Sami and Josh Johnson are thrilled to announce that they are expecting their first child. They thank you for your prayers and support during this new season of their lives.

“Treasures of Darkness”: 2018 Advent Devotional
Once again OSL members are invited to submit brief devotional writings for the upcoming Advent Devotional booklet, which will focus on the theme “Treasures of Darkness.”
A summary of this year’s theme and a guide for writers may be found at the Information Center or online at oslchurch.com.
The deadline for submitting devotionals is October 31; send contributions to Bill Reynolds, email@example.com, preferably as a Word document attached to an email message.
Peace by Piece Ministry Meets the Need
Every year, the Lutheran aid organization Global Health Ministries sends thousands of Hospice Kits overseas “to help the hands that heal.” Earlier this fall, word went out that more kits were needed, and OSL’s Peace by Piece Ministry (the quilters) helped fill this need by purchasing supplies and assembling 30 kits (see photo). Thanks to them for stepping up!
These Hospice Kits provide comfort and needed supplies to someone suffering from HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other terminal diseases. Kits are distributed by palliative care providers in many countries. Learn more about Global Health Ministries at ghm.org.
