OSL Responds to COVID-19
Pastoral Letter #9
Week of 13 May 2020
Dear OSL Family,
We greet you this week in the name of the one who calls us to lives of faithfulness, hopefulness, and love —our risen Lord Jesus Christ—and we pray that this letter finds you well as this COVID-19 ordeal continues to permeate every aspect of our lives.
Thank you to all who returned an Estimate of Giving card as part of our Faithful, Hopeful, Loving stewardship emphasis. The cards are still coming in and by next week, we will be able to give you a more complete update. Early returns, however, indicate a strong passion for the mission of OSL with an average increase of more than 15% per annual pledge.
If you have misplaced your stewardship materials, which were sent to you by mail around the first of the month, call or stop by the Church Office to request a new packet. As an alternative, you may find a fillable form of the Estimate of Giving card here along with supporting information. If you have any questions, pick up the phone and give Barb Haugan a call at 336-2942, or drop her a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your Generosity Story
We are in the process of recording the generosity stories that some of you have shared with us, but there is still time for the rest of you to submit your story. Simply click here or type oslchurch.com/stewardship in your internet browser to access the form where you can share your story. When we receive it, we will get in touch with you to arrange a time to record your story for our website.
A Question of When
There is more and more talk these days of “reopening.” Here at Our Savior’s we are talking as staff and leaders about when it will be appropriate to invite all of you back for in-person activities at church. Chief among our concerns is the safety and well-being of everyone who participates in a ministry activity at OSL. Be sure to tune into our weekly worship broadcasts (9:00 a.m., KTTW (FOX); 1:00 p.m., KSCB (cable only); Facebook Live, 8:45 and 10:15 a.m.) or check our website, oslchurch.com, for the latest announcements about our ministry schedule.
Just for Fun
Since this is the ninth installment of these pastoral letters, which seek both to inform and to keep us connected, we thought you might enjoy something more light-hearted this week. Check out this fun and educational word search from the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases.
Be sure to consider using our new Text-to-Give option for giving your weekly offering or for giving a special one-time gift for COVID-19 Response or Campus Cupboard or any of our other designated funds. Simply text the word Sharing to 73256 and follow the link to our online giving platform.
A Final Word
These days are not easy for any of us. Even so, continue to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called (Ephesians 4:1). Remain faithful in worship, hopeful in prayer, and loving in every way as you serve your neighbor with a joyful, generous spirit.
In Christ’s unfading peace,
Your pastors at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church,
Rev. Randy Gehring,
Rev. Tim Lemme,
Rev. Justin Kosec
