Once again, OSL member Ethan Boyens sent his drone high above Our Savior’s to record striking images of restoration work on the historic Bell Tower, which OSL Communications edited into this video, shown in worship services August 28 and 29, 2021..
“The Project is moving along well. Like you saw, the cross is completed, the new roof has been installed and all exterior masonry work is completed. I was able to find a new roof drain that matched the original one and that was installed along with the new roof. Boiler ducting has been completed, crews will be on site Thursday [August 19] to install new extensions to ladders and repair all blocks and bricks on the inside of the bell tower. I am going to have a sheetrock contractor on site at the end of week to start building the 1 hr. shaft wall around new ducting through the sacristy area. The electrician needs to change out the outlets inside the bell tower to make these all waterproof. I am looking to have the project completed by the end of the month, the first part of September.”

“The brick work on the exterior of the tower should be completed today or tomorrow, and the scaffolding will be taken down by the end of the week if the weather holds out. That is a huge milestone!
“Now that they are done we can move onto the next big projects. Tuesday the 20th, the electrician will be working in the basement, Howe Plumbing will be putting holes in the roof getting ready for the new boiler flue, the roofers will be patching what Howe is doing and getting ready for the new AC unit that will cool the Sacristy.
“The biggest thing on the horizon is on the 26th—the crane will be set up on the road just outside of the Augie daycare. We are hopeful that the crane will only be needed for about a week since this will require the intersection to be closed the entire time the crane is set up. While the crane is in place, the cross will be cleaned and repainted and the tower roof will be replaced. Once the roof is done and the cross is painted, we will be getting new LED flood lights installed to light the cross. By the end of July the exterior work should be complete.”
