Faith & Ferment
There are many social justice concerns that call upon us to begin with prayer, and then move to conversation and, with God’s leading, each of us and together action that reflects our trust in the Holy Spirit to guide.
In the second half of 2025, five concerns are lifted up by OSL’s Faith and Ferment group as issues worthy of our congregation’s prayer and action:
· The Care of Creation (please go to “signups” and register for our congregation’s Creation Cleanup servant event on Sunday, September 28th, 1:30-3:30pm—We will join with Friends of the Big Sioux River in our effort to share our love for God’s world as we work to clean a section of Sioux Fall’s famous river. Our children’s Sunday School lesson, morning worship and adult forum will also study the Hebrew word, ‘Radah’, (gentle rule) as we engage this topic.
· Peace between Palestine and Israel.
· Human intelligence and Artificial intelligence.
· The need to improve race relations in South Dakota.
· Hunger Deserts close to home and across our state.
Keep watch on our “What’s happening at OSL” every Thursday for information pertaining to opportunities within our congregation and the broader community to prayerfully address these justice issues.
