Come Have a Blast!
Enjoying perfectly mild almost-summer weather under a bright blue sky, more than 300 OSL members, friends, and neighbors enjoyed a delicious supper grilled by volunteers from Miller Funeral Home and El Riad Shrine—more folks served than any Summer Blast thus far.
While people waited in line, Mogen’s Heroes entertained them with classic rock and pop hits. Kids gave a workout to inflatables, crafts tables, and an endless supply of sidewalk chalk.
As usual, the June Summer Blast also featured OSL’s annual Car and Motorcycle Show, and, once again, the number of classic automotive beauties on display exceeded any past year: in all, some 40 shining vehicles from various decades were shown off by their proud owners.
Anything else? Well, yes, as a matter of fact. There was a fun, thought-provoking God Talk conversation with Peter and Paul, outdoor worship, and, later, OSL Youth gathered around the fire pit with more than enough marshmallows to last the gorgeous evening.
Pretty hard to top a night like that, no?
Perhaps. But Our Savior’s folk are not accustomed to resting on past glories…so prepare yourself for the next Summer Blast, to be held on Wednesday, July 12, starting at 5:00 p.m. In addition to authentic cuisine provided by our friends at Pueblo de Dios, you’ll also enjoy live music by the band Short Notice, more family activities, and outdoor worship, including a blessing of pets.
If you missed the June Summer Blast, you won’t want to miss July’s! In fact, even if you didn’t miss June’s, be sure to come back for the season’s final Summer Blast, on July 12! ♦
