Celebrate Reformation 500
It’s not very often that a milestone like this comes around. It’s now 500 years since Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg as a way of inviting conversation about reforming the church. What followed was nothing like he envisioned—a reformation not only of the church but also in other areas of society. Truly it was a watershed moment in history.
On November 1, the South Dakota Synod of the ELCA will host a worship service celebrating the 500th anniversary of Luther’s Reformation. The event—an evening of worship, music, and celebration—will take place at the Sioux Falls Arena, at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:00). All are welcome to attend! The event is free, but tickets will be required. Visit sdsynod.org before October 9 to get your tickets.
Interested in singing in the Reformation choirs? Sign up at sdsynod.org to be a part of the adult choir or the children’s choir.
Most Wednesday evening activities at Our Savior’s will be canceled to accommodate attending this celebration. In addition, we’ve made arrangements for a light meal at OSL and bus transportation from Our Savior’s to the Arena that evening for those who would be unable to drive to the event. Contact the Church Office, 336-2942, to sign up.
