Middle-School Late Night Event
Augustana Outreach will be back to lead a Late Night Event for middle-schoolers on Friday, October 27, from 7:00 to 11:00 P.M. There will be games, worship, Bible study, group building, and, of course, food! Friends are welcome! Sign up via this SignUpGenius link.
MSYG Sunday Event
Kick off the new MSYG (Middle School Youth Group) Sunday Event on October 8 with a trip to the Heartland Country Corn Maze in Harrisburg. Gather at OSL at noon (after 11:00 a.m. worship) for lunch, then carpool to the Corn Maze together. The group will return around 2:30 p.m. Cost will be $10, which will cover lunch and the maze. Friends are welcome! Sign up via this SignUpGenius link.
OSL offers two youth groups, MSYG for middle-school students and Emerge for high-school students. Youth group is meant to be a safe place for students to meet, ask questions, have some snacks or donuts, play games, and get to know other students at OSL.
MSYG will meet on Sunday mornings, from 10:00 to 10:50, with Trish Syverson, beginning on September 10.
Emerge will be on Wednesday nights, from 7:00 to 8:30, with Elise, starting on September 13.
Don’t forget: if you are going on a summer trip, you earn $5 toward your fundraising goal each time you come to youth group!
Scrip and Grocery Gift Cards
Stop by the Youth Information table in The Gathering Place on Sunday mornings, from 9:30 to 10:30, and see what kind of scrip gift cards you can order. Orders placed by 2:00 p.m. Monday will be available to pick up on Thursday afternoon in the Church Office, or at the Youth Information Table on Sunday mornings. OSL Youth continue to sell Hy-Vee and Fareway gift cards as well. All proceeds help Youth Ministry.
October is a big month for OSL’s ninth-grade confirmation students!
The month starts off with a retreat on the first, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided.
Next is the Confirmation Banquet and rehearsal on Sunday, October 15. Students will gather in the Youth Room, starting at 5:00 p.m., to be fitted for their gown before the group heads upstairs for a picture. Then students will join with friends and family for a lovely meal to celebrate this milestone. (Also—Faith Projects are due on this night!)
Finally, students will make public profession of their faith during all worship services during the weekend of October 28 and 29. Congratulations to all these students on this important step in their faith life!
High-School Movie Night
OSL high-school students and friends are invited to a relaxing evening of pizza and a movie! Gather in the Youth Room at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, for a showing of…well, nobody knows just yet, but never fear—it’ll be a great movie and a great time for everyone!
Week of Hope Minneapolis
There is still time to register for next summer’s Week of Hope trip to Minneapolis, July 15 through 20. The registration deadline is Wednesday, October 11. Nonrefundable deposits of $150 are also due at that time. Registration forms and information can be found at the Youth Information Table in The Gathering Place. This trip is open to students in grades 6 through 12.
All children, youth, and families (in every form possible!) are invited to a fun evening at Country Apple Orchard on Wednesday, October 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for a fellowship event. There will be a bonfire, bouncy house, wagon rides, and train rides—all free of charge!
There will be $5 vouchers on sale at OSL, prior to the event, which you may use to purchase apples, apple cider, apple crisp, pumpkins, or anything else for sale at the orchard. Vouchers may be purchased at OSL on Sunday mornings at the Youth Information Table, Wednesday nights at the Education desk downstairs by Fellowship Hall (or by finding Elise), or you may email Elise—firstname.lastname@example.org—to reserve vouchers to pick up in the Church Office! A portion of proceeds from voucher sales will support OSL children, youth, and family ministry. Questions? Contact Elise.

All while the children, from birth through preschool, enjoy supervised play in the Nursery. Play and Pray meets on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., in Room 102, next to the Sanctuary. Contact Pr.
